How Technological Advancement Help People with Disabilities 

“For people without disabilities, technology makes things easier. For people with disabilities, technology makes things possible.”

Disability is defined as any ailment that makes it harder for an individual to do a certain activity. However, disability is not just limited to physical ailment. Disabilities can be physical, mental, intellectual, or loss of senses. Somehow, technology helps in all cases. Technology is known as the great growling engine of change. The world has witnessed the evolution of technology over the years and technological advancements are rather helpful than not. Everybody merits an opportunity to profit from the technical advancements the world is going through.

Furthermore, technology contributes in many ways to people with disabilities. It makes those activities possible for them which they thought they’ll never be able to do again and fills them with joy and happiness.

Technology is trying to treat disabled people by replacing the damaged parts of their body with artificial. It would not feel the same or look the same but it is the better alternative. If a man loses his legs due to some tragedy, should he live his entire life in a wheelchair and never walk again? One such example of an inspiring personality is Sudha Chandran. She was a dancer but lost her legs in a tragedy. However, the young lady did not give up. Artificial legs allowed her to walk, moreover dance again. Engineers and doctors are working together for creating artificial body parts which can feel and function in the same way as a real part would.

The everyday struggle of disabled people is extreme. Technological advancements help them to get an opportunity to carry on with a superior life. Gadgets employ artificial intelligence in such a way that people no more need assistance to work on screen as they can operate the devices with their voice. Gadgets like ACs, televisions, music players, etc. can now operate with the help of voice assistance.

Online Shopping

Technology has made it easier for disabled people to buy and order supplies online without going to the store. Online shopping is enough of a blessing for normal people, imagine what a great deal it would be to someone with disabilities. They no more need to struggle from store to store and tolerate pitying looks. They can receive whatever they want in just some mere clicks or voice commands.

Help with Daily Chores and Activities

We are familiar with automatic machines that lend us a helping hand in our day-to-day activities. For example, washing machine to wash clothes, dish-washer to wash dishes, microwave to cook or heat food, etc. Can you imagine your life without these machines? A disabled person is often told to rest because we assume that doing some activity or movement might cause them trouble or pain. However, the technically advanced machines not only allow them to do tasks but also allow them to do them easily without any stress or pain. It will not be long before self-driving cars are making their arrival in the market. Their arrival will make driving possible for disabled people and they will no longer have to be dependent on someone else to take them places.

Medicine and Support

Technology also helps disabled people with any kind of medical support and consultancy that they require. It makes them capable to order medicines anytime and helps them to stay in constant and close support with their physician or doctor. Technological advancement has made it easier for them to reach out for help in case of any emergency. Furthermore, there are many mobile applications and websites such as ‘Be My Eyes’ and ‘Voice4u’ for disabled people which provide them with support and help.

Employment

If you are suffering from any disability then unemployment is no more a necessity for you. Technological advancements have made employment possible for disabled people. Technology invests heavily in companies for disabled people. Additionally, a job is not the only employment you can have. You can aim for business and technical tools and support will make it easier for you to expand your business. There are various employment and business ideas such as auctioning, writing, services, startups, etc.

Company

People with disabilities are often isolated by society. Rather than respect and honor, people see them with pity and sorrow. There are only a few disabled individuals who are truly happy. Most of them feel depressed or upset because of their disability and society plays a huge role in that. Technology does not remove that fact but, manipulates it. Technological gadgets such as Victor Reader Stream reads to people and Alexa speaks to people and obeys commands. Nonetheless, more and more healthcare robots are launched in the market. They will assist the patients and disabled people and will not just look after them, but will also give them good company. Also, it helps them to distract themselves and channel their emotions and energy to something productive or relaxing.

Individuals with misfortune who were denied of even the principal arrangements get an opportunity to snatch different freedoms throughout everyday life. Modern innovation, electronic gadgets, etc. are nowadays simpler to use. Artificial body parts enable disabled people to plant a virtual but working body part instead of the damaged body part. Voice assistants and automatic machines have simplified the use of gadgets and appliances. Furthermore, it has made daily chores possible for disabled people.

Nonetheless, technology provides medicine, help, and support to people with disabilities. Also, people with disabilities will be able to do a job or business with the help of technology. Technology also companies disabled people and makes them feel less lonely and upset. Such technological advancement frees disabled people from any kind of dependence on anyone.
